The Senatorial candidate of the Action Alliance Party (AA) in the 2019 Election Engr. Ndubuisi Emenike was reportedly gunned down by a Civil Defence Officer in a case of accidental discharge amidst the victory gathering of the APC in Umunachi Okwelle LGA Sunday 26th January evening at the home of Princess Miriam Onuoha following her victory as APC candidate in the Okigwe South Federal legislative seat rerun held on 25th January 2020.
The renowned philanthropist and founder of Ndubuisi Emenike Foundation is popularly known in the state as ‘Ototo ‘ a name that is in accordance with his huge features at over 6.ft tall, the young man of under 40 went into politics to attract dividends of democracy and presence of federal projects to his constituency, he has been a close friend and ally of Chief Ugwumba Uche Nwosu the Guber flag bearer of AA in the last election in Imo state , son in law to the former Governor of Imo State Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha.
On the new year day January 1st , Engr. Emenike has been in consultation with stake holders of his party in preparation for the cause to determine who replaces the vacant seat of Imo north federal constituency which is known as Okigwe zone , a seat that was heatedly fought for by him representing Action Alliance Party, Patrick Ndubueze candidate of PDP and Senator Benjamin Uwajimuogu of APC who later won the re run after the first election was declared inconclusive. Senator Benjamin Uwajimogu occupied the seat after the rerun that was held in March last year but the seat became vacant again out of his sudden death over a heart related ailment on the 18th of December 2019 In Abuja , leaving Patrick Ndubueze of PDP and Engr. Ndubuisi Emenike as the leading contenders to replace him as they came second and 3rd place respectively at the March 2019 rerun.

The incumbent senator’s death got Engr.Emenike dreaming again of making it to the hallowed chamber and of course other political big wigs in the zone who focused on the guber election which is now settled with the supreme court judgement became aware of the new opportunity that death of Senator Benjamin presented and started weighing their options on the possibility of being part of the next election that can determine who replaces the late senator and this has fired up the suspicion on the possibility of Emenike’s tragic death being more than an accident but rather a possible assassination.
But the truth is , there is no comparison of political strength of Engr.Emenike and the supposed politicians in the Okigwe zone who are eyeing the vacant seat as they are more experienced and has been in the game for as old as the 4th republic is ,having occupied top positions like that of a senator and governor while Emenike was just participating in his first election last year and still learning his ropes, so his supposed assassination will serve no purpose as he is not seen to be a threat to the old politicians in the Okigwe zone who are being rumoured to be interested in the vacant senate seat
Engr. Ndubuisi Emenike’s tragic demise that resulted from an accidental discharge of a bullet from the nuzzle of an orderly at a congratulatory gathering of APC for Princess Miriam Onuoha, is now the second death incident that is happening to two out of the 3 lead contestants of the February general election and the March 2019 rerun election for the senatorial seat race that have lost their lives within the last the last 5 weeks following the death of Senator Benjamin Uwajimuogu who happen to be the first and died last month.
Okigwe zone is in confusion over these tragic incidents that has befallen their illustrious sons, and are pondering if there are possible diabolic means underlying the incidents, Kinsmen of Ndubuisi Emenike has engaged in serial prayer services to condemn any person from their community that could be involved in any discussion or arrangement that led to him being shot to death if by chance his death was an orchestrated act and not truly an accident as being made to be believed.
The race for the vacant seat is now likely to draw negative attention to those that will raise their heads for the contention as the air is filled with suspicion over these deaths if they are mere accidents or architects of politicians desperate for power.
