Ogelle Joins Fight against Covid-19 Distributes Relief Packages in Low Income Communities of Lagos

As billionaires and few corporate institutions in Nigeria makes huge donations to the Federal and State governments in support of their fight against Corona virus , the founder of Ogelle Barr. Osita Oparaugo and the management of the online entertainment platform for African content only has directed their resources and energy towards the people that will need help at this time the most, the less privileged.

The Staff of Ogelle in the past weeks has undertaken various trips to low income communities in Lagos Nigeria to seek people out and give them packs of Noodles, Rice and other essential commodities to assist and necessitate their stay at home as directed by the government.

They’ve been to three neighborhoods namely Makoko, Ajah and Ajegunle with food and sanitary items worth several millions of Naira as a way to support the poor affected by the stay at home order of the government and aside rice and noodles they also gave out face masks, hand gloves, hand sanitizers, soaps and some books for kids.

 Speaking to reporters at one of the locations, the Founder of Ogelle, Osita Oparaugo, a lawyer and film maker said the world is at war. While he agreed with the government in shutting down the states as social distancing is the biggest tool in fighting the spread of the deadly disease.

“We know that misplaced fear of low income communities only makes things worse, perpetuating the problems and keeping resources away, as people in their charitable deeds tends to avoid some places out of their fears of a non -existent danger,   so we decided in Ogelle to distribute our own relief packages to those living in the low income communities where our relief packages of Rice, Noodles and other essential commodities will be worth a lot more to its benefactors ‘’ Barrister Osita Oparaugo explained.

“I commend efforts of the captains of industries in Nigeria that has stepped out at this time to assist the nation and government in this fight for our collective survival against this new enemy of humanity ‘’ the alumnus of Harvard Business School and Buckingham University  added.

He also asked the Federal Government of Nigeria to immediately direct the board of customs and excise who have seized a lot of food items from smugglers to distribute this items via the 774 local government areas in Nigeria with special emphasizes on Lagos State, Ogun State and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.

When asked about the amount the company spent, he declined to mention saying ‘’we spent money, a couple of millions of Naira, just paper.  We went out there to share some love with the people and love is not patronizing and charity isn’t about pity, it’s about love. The fact that the beneficiaries appreciated us and said clearly that their problem is hunger not the virus shows we got the right people that deserve our support.”  The mastermind behind the innovative user generated online entertainment video sharing platform for African content only reitirated.
