FASHION FUTURES RETURNS ON 19 OCTOBER 2020

Fashion Futures

Fashion Futures is a powerful six-day program delivering a wealth of expertise in design, technology and entrepreneurship.

This unique combination of a Henley Business School, Parsons School of Design and Technology, and Africa Fashion Week London allow participants to gain a holistic education of the future of the fashion and creative industry.

This course is specifically designed for African-inspired designers looking for future-proof their business whilst learning the latest theories and practices on ethics and sustainability of the global fashion industry and how the technological directions in fashion translate in the African supply chain.

How we delivered Fashion Futures

Fashion Futures successfully completed the first cohort of 25 students in July 2020; delivered in real-time utilizing Henley South Africa’s formidable virtual delivery hub.

This prototype attracted 123 registration, many of which successfully received very generous scholarships. The scholarships (50% and 75% of the $1000 program fee) were put in place to demonstrate a commitment to the African creative industries and to follow the values of the Henley South Africa purpose statement:

Fashion Futures

“We build the people, who build the businesses, that build Africa”

By the end of the Fashion Futures course, our designers learned how to:

 Understand the intersection between technology and fashion
 Critically evaluate the present and future opportunities technology brings into fashion
 Design lean and agile business models to create new forms of value for the future
 Understand sustainability and how to build sustainability compliant businesses of the future.
 Develop a sustainable innovation fashion product line or service
 Conduct a strategic analysis of the innovation
 Evaluate different sustainability measures of performance and impact of the idea.
 Work collaboratively with other designers
 Present a viable business pitch to industry professionals
 Possibly build a market-ready idea.

The Next Event

We are now planning our next Fashion Futures course on 19 October 2020. It will also include a Masterclass on Digital 3D design which is now becoming a vitally important skill.

We are also offering our designers a chance to be a part of our new AFWL Virtual Platform, so secure your place on Fashion Futures Online Course and move your brand into the future.

Matchfunding Scholarships

Corporate Sponsorship is also available. We are able to match-fund your valuable contribution to Fashion Futures which means that for each entrepreneur that is sponsored, we are able to give a scholarship to another. Take a look at our corporate sponsorship deck or contact us on the below email.
