This Morning with my media Identity card in my back pocket, my host and I left the house trekking to one of the mini market sprawling the area, in the Sango- tedo axis of Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos, in search of cartons of bottle of water to stock up in waiting of the 3day 24 hour curfew imposed by the Governor of Lagos State.
On our few meters trek, we passed by the Novare Mall in Sango-tedo and noticed mean looking guys with cudgels, stones and planks speaking in their dialects and Pidgin-English, gathering in different sides of the Shopping Mall, the obvious fact is that the different groups surrounding the property at different sides of the property and speculating on how to attack the mall.
The roads leading to the mall as we walked a bit further, were intermittently blocked with burning car tires every few meters to hinder the movement of cars and motor bikes, we hurriedly completed our mission and headed home-wards immediately, on our way back with our few packs of water, that more of them are springing up from different corners of the road, heading towards one direction.
At the road front of Novare mall, those at the road side of the mall are already breaking bottles on the ground, in a bid to charge up the growing tension in the environment, and create a scuffle that they will use its guise to jump the fence of the property.
The few private security guards that are stationed in the mall are noticed standing at different entrances of the mall, watching the movement of the hoodlums in order not to be caught by surprise.
If nothing is done anytime soon, the innocent Nigerians that operates their eateries and other stores in that mall will have a sorry story to tell their children. The authorities need to do something before the hoodlums and agbero unify their intentions into a single action to take their moment of Glory.
Few properties around the city of Lagos had already fallen to the reprisal attacks that followed the Lekki Massacre of yesterday the 20th of October 2020, as numbers of the actual victims of the insensible violence unleashed on peaceful protesters are yet to be verified.
