As over 500 parallel events of the NGO CSW kicks off on the 15th to last till the 21st of March 2O21, the Global African SHEROES Union (GASU)will also be utilizing the opportunity given to them by the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)to claim their pivotal place as a Glocal organisation driving the interest of the African woman.
The union with membership and network in 16 African countries and beyond are organizing serial of events, in an all day engagement ,on the 16th of March, with its partners, stakeholders, in the interest of the general public on the theme- Women in Public life: Equal Participation in Decision Making.
The programs lined up for the virtual event will have participants across the globe joining and will feature presentation of papers, intercultural dialogue , artistic and poetry performances ,as well as a panel on the damage that is being done to Global African Women, to name just a few.
GASU also invited and collaborated with All Africa Media Network to host the first virtual edition of their flagship event, the African Elders and Women Intercultural Dialogue which its maiden edition was held at the Accra International Conference center on the 25th of April 2017 in partnership with SHEROES, under the guidance and leadership of Seestah IMAHKS Njinga Okofu Ababio the Director of the Council of the Noble event.
The African Elders and Women Intercultural Dialogue has featured prominent African voices and institutions, some of the dignitaries to chair this dialogue and grace the event in person are former Vice President and mother of the Gambia Struggle, Her Excellency Mrs. Fatoumata Tambajang Jallow, spouse of former Vice President of Nigeria , Her Excellency Mrs. Amina Titi Abubakar, both co-chaired the 2018 Dialogue in Abuja, while Her Excellency Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett, Head of the Diaspora African Forum Mission was the chairperson for the inaugural Dialogue in 2017 held in Accra.
The entire day event of GASU will be piloted by Madam Angela Sayles International Host of the GASU, with Dr Rahab Njeri, Davisha Johnson and Dikeledi Mokoena interfacing and co hosting from Germany , USA and South Africa respectively.
Pivotal voices in the continent like Co-regent of the Bakwai Indu people in the Luba empire of Congo D.R; Queen Diambi Kabatusuila Muatta, Co founder of the African Queens and Cultural Women Leaders Network, Queen Mother Obaapa Awindor of the Afigya-Kwabre district in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
The Founder of Youth Against Slavery Movement New York Racha Haffar, the former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Imo State University; Prof. Jerome Okonkwo, as well as Deputy Chief of the Diaspora Affairs office of the president Ghana Ms Nadia Adongo Musah has been confirmed.
Nigeria’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Sadia umar Farouk, the founder of Afrikology Institute Yaa Asantewa Ngidi and the focal person of the West African Women Association of Nigeria an aegis of ECOWAS Dr. Beatrice Ubeku are also expected.
Over the years SHEROES has maintained their consistency in their efforts of advancing the upward mobility of African Women and their communities, as well as protecting their economic, social, and political interest.
The sisterhood network under the leadership of its founder Kim Poole has remained committed to the collective interest of understanding, empowering, supporting and improving the socio-economic conditions of African women and girls beyond their geographic location, religion, tribe and class in a sustainable manner.
GASU is extending invitation to Iconic African women, policy makers, and culture experts across the globe to participate and lend not only their voices, but their extensive wisdom in contributions towards finding pathways in accelerating the socio-cultural and economic conditions of women in the continent.
