Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has become the new General President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide following the death of the late Professor George Obiozor. The emergence of The Elder Statesman was preceded by several marching bands from various groups inside and outside the country. Eventually, however, he gave in to the demand after a delegation of Imo alumni led by Eze Cletus Ilomuanya made the same call. On Wednesday, Iwuanyanwu was introduced to Governor Hope Uzodinma at Government House by a delegation from the Imo Council of Elders led by Ilomuanya
. During the visit, Ilomuanya informed the governor that the decision to adopt Iwuanyanwu was made after they met in Owerri in April. He further described the new president of Ohanaeze as a versatile, dynamic and outgoing personality. Iwuanyanwu, who confirmed his acceptance as General President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, also said the decision was made by the Ohanaeze Council of Elders. He added that confirmation would come from the Ime Obi on April 30.
