The passing of Chief Donatus Osakwe, Oluoma 1 of Amurie Omanze, a revered community elder and leader who served his people with dedication and distinction plunged the people of Amurie Omanze into mourning late last year.
The sad news of his death , which came after a prolonged illness, is a significant loss not only to his immediate family but to the Isu community as a whole and was communicated to the public on 22nd November 2022, on behalf of the family.
Months after ,the burial plans for final interment of late Chief Osakwe a well-respected figure known for his remarkable character and unwavering commitment to equality for all men ,has been presented to the public , reigniting an outpouring of encomium and elegies on his well spent life.
The funeral arrangements of The Oluoma 1 of Amurie Omanze as announced by the Osakwe family of Umudiojiaku, Ndiuhu, Amurie Omanze in Isu LGA of Imo State will commence on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 5:30 pm with a vigil mass at his residence in Amurie Omanze, Isu LGA, Imo State. The body will leave Aladinma Mortuary, Owerri on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 7 am, and there will be a lying-in-state at his residence in Amurie Omanze, Isu LGA, Imo State from 8 am.
The funeral mass will take place on the same day, June 16, 2023, at 9 am at Saint Teresa’s Catholic Church, Amurie Omanze, Isu LGA, Imo State. The interment and reception of guests will follow immediately after the mass at his residence.
On Sunday, June 18, 2023, there will be a thanksgiving mass at Saint Teresa’s Catholic Church, Amurie Omanze, Isu LGA, Imo State.
People from all walks of life have been sending in their messages of solace to the entire family and community for their loss, some personalized reactions to the disclosed funeral messages were also sent to his son Hon. Modestus Abiazie Osakwe the House of Assembly member elect for Isu State Constituency in Imo State ,. The outpouring of support and condolences is a testament to the impact that Chief Osakwe had on the people he served and the lives he touched.
‘One of Old Amurie Omanze ‘s Brightest , Ebullient, Truthful And Loving Chiefs. His Regards to Humanity is Second to None. I am Personally pained to the marrow about his demise at this auspicious moment when his Words of Advice and Counselling Are Needed. May The Almighty God Grant his soul Merciful judgment. It is quite unfortunate that you didn’t stay alive to celebrate the victory of your son,Abobo ( Modestus ) which you were among those that started journey. Whenever,any person comes looking for Abobo,met his absence but sees you,that person is always welcomed.Kola nuts were never a problem to you. Amurians have lost great legend.You were not two.We are really missing you. Your transition will surely be a great success coz you were a man of peace. Rest on Dee.” Hon.Victor Nedum O wrote in condolence to the family.

The passing of Chief Donatus Osakwe has left a significant void in the Isu Constituency community and Imo State at large. His absence will be felt for a long time, and his legacy as a wise counselor, philanthropist, and proponent of equality for all men will continue to inspire generations to come.
