Imo State, Nigeria – In the upcoming Imo State gubernatorial election, General Jack Lincoln Ogunewe has emerged as one of the top contenders, bringing with him an impressive profile forged through years of dedicated service in the Nigerian Military and the United Nations.

As the flag bearer for the Action Alliance party, General Ogunewe aims to leverage his extensive experience and leadership skills to bring about positive change and development in the state.

General Ogunewe’s military career spans several decades and is marked by numerous accomplishments and notable assignments. Before retiring from the Nigerian Military, he served in various key capacities, showcasing his expertise and commitment to duty.

Notably, from 2017 to 2018, Ogunewe held the prestigious position of Chief of Defence Standards and Evaluation (CDSE) at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria. In this role, he coordinated monitoring and evaluation activities, ensuring the successful execution of projects at the Defence Headquarters.

As Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) for the Nigerian Army in Abuja from 2015 to 2017, General Ogunewe played a vital role in coordinating plans and programs for the Army Headquarters. He also oversaw major aspects of equipment procurement, contributing to the modernization and enhancement of the Nigerian Army’s capabilities.

International diplomacy and peacekeeping missions were also significant aspects of General Ogunewe’s career. As Nigeria’s Defence Adviser to the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2012 to 2015, he led the coordination of Nigeria’s peacekeeping initiatives and missions.

His role included advising the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations and the Chief of Defence Staff on peace support operations and engagements. Additionally, General Ogunewe served as the Dean of the Military and Police Advisers Community at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 2013 to 2014, where he coordinated meetings, activities, and visits to peacekeeping mission areas.

Within Nigeria, General Ogunewe’s contributions to the Defence Intelligence Agency and the Nigerian Army Engineers were instrumental in ensuring effective operations and infrastructure development. As the Director of Foreign Liaison at the Defence Intelligence Agency from 2010 to 2012, he managed and administered the activities of defence advisers and attaches, including their training, conferences, and visits.

In his role as Commander of the Engineer Construction Regiment in Osun State from 2009 to 2010, he successfully commanded and managed the construction of civil and electrical strategic army projects, contributing to the development of critical infrastructure.

Furthermore, General Ogunewe’s experience in peacekeeping operations and training further highlights his expertise and commitment. As Deputy Director of Peacekeeping Operations at the Department of Training and Operations at Army Headquarters in Abuja from 2009 to 2010, he liaised and coordinated with the United Nations Secretariat and organized visits to United Nations peacekeeping mission areas. His efforts ensured the smooth execution of peace support operations and effective collaboration between the Nigerian Army and international organizations.

Throughout his career, General Ogunewe has consistently demonstrated his ability to lead and coordinate military and civil engineering projects. He has held various positions of responsibility, including Director of Records at the Department of Military Secretary, Director of Logistics at the Nigerian Army Engineers, and Commanding Officer of the Army Headquarters Engineer Maintenance Group, among others. These roles enabled him to contribute to the maintenance of army assets, oversee logistics matters, and support the training of troops.

General Jack Lincoln Ogunewe’s vast experience and dedication to public service make him a formidable contender for the Imo State gubernatorial election. As the Action Alliance party’s flag bearer, he aims to utilize his leadership skills, strategic vision, and commitment to improve the lives of the people of Imo State.
