ABUJA – Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has extended his commendations towards the presidential election petition tribunal’s recent decision. The verdict reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election, drawing significant attention from various factions of the political sphere.
The APC’s top figure, in a statement disseminated to the press in the nation’s capital, lauded the tribunal’s comprehensive examination of the case. Dr. Ganduje emphasized that the judgment was exhaustive, ensuring all contentions raised by the opposing petitioners were duly addressed.
He subsequently reached out to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), among others, advocating for collaboration. “Our country grapples with multifaceted challenges, and this administration’s efforts to tackle them will be more effective with a united front,” Ganduje said, imploring the opposition to cooperate with the present government.
Dr. Ganduje went on to describe the judgment as an accurate representation of the 2023 presidential election. He conveyed confidence in President Tinubu’s administration, stating, “The President and his team remain committed to their electoral promises. Their vision to recalibrate the nation and propel it towards growth and progress is steadfast.”
It’s worth noting that the decisions to contest President Tinubu’s electoral win were spearheaded by PDP and LP’s top presidential candidates, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, respectively. Ganduje expressed admiration for their resolve, stating, “Their actions clearly underscore their profound trust in Nigeria’s judicial processes.”
However, as much as the APC chief acknowledges their efforts, he implored the opposition to receive the tribunal’s outcome with magnanimity. “This verdict resonates with the principles of democracy and the rule of law,” Ganduje remarked.
The APC leader’s confidence in President Tinubu’s victory was unwavering even before the tribunal’s decision. He cited the unparalleled support the President and the APC received from Nigerians both pre and post-election. “The overwhelming endorsement from our people was palpable. This verdict simply reaffirms that,” Dr. Ganduje noted.
Furthermore, Dr. Ganduje extended his accolades to the Nigerian judiciary. “Their unwavering commitment to upholding justice, devoid of external pressures, has truly set a precedent for subsequent electoral proceedings in Nigeria,” he stated. Ganduje believes this judgment exemplifies the supremacy of the rule of law and will significantly contribute to fortifying the nation’s treasured democracy.
To the opposition parties, Ganduje’s message was clear and magnanimous. He expressed, “Accept the tribunal’s verdict and remember, the democratic process grants repeated opportunities. Elections will come again, offering platforms to gauge your appeal among the electorates.”
In closing, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje extended his heartfelt congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He also expressed his profound gratitude to the multitude of supporters who demonstrated unwavering loyalty to the APC, even during challenging times. “Through highs and lows, our supporters have remained our bedrock. Their commitment to our vision and mission has been remarkable,” he concluded.
