President Bola Tinubu is poised to depart Lagos State for a two-day official visit to the State of Qatar on Thursday, February 29, 2024, as part of efforts to enhance cooperation between the two nations across various sectors, including security, cultural exchange, and economic development.
In a statement issued by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Tinubu, it was revealed that the visit is in response to an invitation extended by His Highness, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.
During his time in Qatar, President Tinubu is expected to witness the signing of multiple agreements aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s real sector and facilitating value-additive investments across diverse fields. These agreements will encompass areas such as trade, education, culture, solid minerals, digital economy, agriculture, gas, and cooperation on counter-terrorism.
Furthermore, President Tinubu will actively participate in a business and investment forum designed to convene high-ranking officials from both the private and public sectors of Nigeria and Qatar. The forum seeks to explore cross-sectoral opportunities that promote mutual growth and development.
Accompanying President Tinubu on this significant diplomatic mission will be senior government officials who will play pivotal roles in the signing of agreements that underscore the commitment of both nations to foster stronger ties and collaboration.
The forthcoming visit underscores President Tinubu’s dedication to advancing Nigeria’s interests on the global stage and signifies a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations between Nigeria and Qatar.
