107,646 Passports Uncollected Across Nigeria, Says Immigration Chief

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has reported that 107,646 passports are yet to be collected nationwide. Comptroller General Kemi Nandap announced this significant backlog and urged applicants to visit their nearest Passport Issuing Centre to pick up their documents.

To improve collection rates, NIS has decided to open all Passport Offices in Lagos on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm specifically for passport collection. “We encourage those with ready passports to take advantage of this extended service,” said Ms. Nandap.

The agency also emphasized the importance of providing accurate contact information during the online application process to ensure that applicants can be reached easily. Despite efforts, some applicants have been difficult to contact, contributing to the high number of uncollected passports.
