The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the promotion of 122 senior police officers, including a new Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) ¹.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Yahaya Sahabo Abubakar, who is in charge of Zone 14 in Katsina, will take on the new role of DIG. He will represent the North East Geopolitical Zone in the Police Management Team, replacing the recently retired DIG Habu Sani.
Additionally, 10 Commissioners of Police have been promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), 15 Deputy Commissioners of Police have been promoted to Commissioners of Police, and 36 Assistant Commissioners of Police have been promoted to Deputy Commissioners of Police. Sixty-one Chief Superintendents of Police have also been elevated to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police.
The promotions were announced after an extraordinary management meeting of the PSC, which was presided over by the commission’s chairman, Solomon Arase. The promoted officers had appeared before the commission for a compulsory interactive promotion interview before their elevation.
