On June 13, 2024, a delegation from Nigeria’s National Assembly will join the 15th Anniversary Lecture of Nigerian Eye Newspaper in Ghana to discuss trade bottlenecks in West Africa. Hon. Tochukwu Okere and Hon. Emmanuel Bedzrah will lead the discourse, with Senator Osita Izunaso delivering the keynote speech.
The event, themed “Trade Conundrum: Expanding the Understanding of the ECOWAS Module for Prosperity in Sub-Saharan Africa,” will take place at the British Council Auditorium in Accra, Ghana. Hon. Chike Okafor, a veteran lawmaker and economist, will provide insight as a guest speaker and discussant.
Industry players in cross-border trade, members of the Ghanaian Parliament, and representatives from the Africa Free Trade Continental Area, EXIM Bank, and ECOWAS will also attend. Notable individuals who have contributed to building a human bridge between Ghanaians and Nigerians will be honored, including Nanahemaa Obaapa Awindor, Victoria Michaels, Dzifa Gray, Juliet Ibrahim, and Bola Ray.
The event aims to promote regional trade and economic cooperation among ECOWAS member states. Dr. Emma Okeson, CEO of Citylights Ghana, will chair the event, which promises to foster greater collaboration and understanding between Nigeria and Ghana.
