President Tinubu Removes Arase as Police Service Commission Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has removed former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC). He has been replaced by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu (Rtd).

The President also approved the appointment of Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd) as Member of the Commission. The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate.

The President expects the new appointees to demonstrate integrity, diligence, and patriotic zeal in their duties. This development is part of the President’s efforts to reorganize the security architecture of the country and ensure the overall well-being of the Nigeria Police and the nation.

Mr. Mohammed Sheidu has also been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) with immediate effect. The President’s decision is aimed at reforming the police force and ensuring effective service delivery.

The removal of Arase and appointment of new officials is a significant development in the President’s efforts to reposition the police force and address the security challenges facing the country. The new appointees are expected to bring their expertise and experience to bear in their respective roles.
