The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting to forcefully take over Rivers State. The APC had called for a state of emergency in the state, alleging that it was in a state of war.
The PDP, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the APC’s statement exposes its intention to instigate a crisis in the state. The PDP vowed to resist any attempt to forcefully take over the state, which it described as its stronghold.
The PDP also called on the Federal Government and the national leadership of the APC to caution the Rivers State APC Caretaker Chairman, Tony Okocha, and hold him liable for his utterances, which it said constitute a threat to democracy and peace in the state.
The party also demanded that the Inspector-General of Police invite Okocha for questioning, adding that his actions and utterances are capable of negatively affecting the overall security of the country.
The PDP warned the APC to perish the thought of forcefully taking over Rivers State, saying its attempts to undermine the will of the people will always come to naught.
