Nine Killed, 50 Abducted in Bandit Attack on Katsina Community

A devastating overnight raid by bandits on Maidabino town in Katsina State has left nine people dead and 50 others, mostly women and children, abducted. The attackers, who operated unhindered for several hours, also burned numerous houses, shops, and vehicles.

The attack occurred between 10 pm on Saturday and 2:30 am on Sunday, with the bandits seemingly seeking revenge for the killing of their members by a military escort on Friday ² ³. The earlier encounter forced traders to turn back and spend the night in Danmusa, leading to the subsequent raid as bandits mobilized reinforcements.

This incident is the latest in a series of bandit attacks in Katsina, particularly in the Danmusa and Kankara areas ¹ ² ³. The police have confirmed the incident, with an investigation currently underway.
