The Labour Party (LP) is set to launch a mobile app to facilitate membership registration, according to a statement by Amb Aju Elumelu, Deputy Director of Media and Communications. The app, proposed by the Labour Party Directorate on Mobilization and Integration, aims to transform the party’s operations into a world-class organization.
The mobile app will enable seamless registration, provide a platform for direct engagement between party members and leaders, and validate membership data in real-time. It will also eliminate the need for physical membership cards and reduce errors in membership validation.
National Chairman, Barr Julius Abure, expressed satisfaction with the initiative, stating that the app will be a game-changer for the party. He noted that it will enable millions of electorate to register with ease and participate in party congresses and conventions.
The app will also provide a platform for members to access exclusive content, participate in party activities, and communicate with party leadership representatives. The Labour Party aims to use this app to win the 2027 Presidential elections with Peter Obi as their candidate.
Once approved, the Directorate plans to hold a stakeholder requirement elicitation exercise to ensure all stakeholders’ requirements are captured. The app will be accessible to all, including those in rural areas without internet connection, using the USSD facility or outposts in rural communities.
This move is seen as a significant step forward for the Labour Party, making it easier for members to register and engage with the party.
