PanAfrican Roots-Synergy Diaspora Special Side Event to Mark 20th Anniversary of AU ECOSOCC

Accra, Ghana- In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the African Union’s Economic, Social, and Cultural Council (AU ECOSOCC), a landmark event titled “Advancing AUADS Sixth Region High Council: Instruments, Partnership, and Leave No Community Behind Model” will be held. This significant event is scheduled for Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 9 AM to 5 PM at the Office of the Head of Local Government, located on Gamel Abdul Nasser Avenue, Accra, Ghana, adjacent to the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel.

 

The PanAfrican Roots-Synergy Diaspora initiative, which drives this special side event, will place a crucial focus on reparatory justice and the right to return. These topics are central to the mission of the African Union African Diaspora (AUADS) Sixth Region High Council, which strives to strengthen its instruments and partnerships while ensuring that no community is left behind.

This event is set to advance the objectives of the AUADS Sixth Region High Council by:

– Dr. Barryl A. Biekman, co-founder and leading facilitator of the AUADS Sixth Region High Council. Dr. Biekman is renowned for her work in promoting the rights and integration of the African diaspora worldwide.

 

– Awa Ndiaye, President of Espace Afrique International and AUADS Sixth Region High Council board member. Ndiaye has been a pivotal figure in advocating for the African diaspora’s interests in international platforms.

 

– Dr. Nii Ocquaye Hammond, Chairman of the Cultural Committee of the Ghana Global Diaspora Council (GHLOBE). Dr. Hammond brings a wealth of experience in cultural affairs and diaspora engagement.
