Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump criticized US President Joe Biden for ending his reelection campaign. Trump claimed that everyone around Biden, including his doctors, knew he was not capable of running for or being president.
Biden, 81, announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race on Sunday and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, 59, as the Democratic Party’s new nominee. Harris is of both Indian and African descent. Biden’s decision followed weeks of pressure from fellow Democrats after a poor debate performance against Trump.
Trump expressed his disbelief on the social media platform “Truth Social,” stating, “So we are forced to spend time and money on fighting Crooked Joe Biden, he polls badly after having a terrible debate, and quits the race. Now we have to start all over again.” He also questioned whether the Republican Party should be reimbursed for what he called “fraud,” suggesting that Biden was never capable of running for president.
The former president also cast doubt on Biden’s recent COVID-19 diagnosis, which Biden tested positive for on July 17, leading to a pause in his campaign. Trump suggested that Biden used the illness as an excuse to withdraw from the race after a disastrous debate.
“Crooked Joe just got knocked out, so now I’ll have to do it a FOURTH TIME!!!” Trump declared, referring to his previous election battles. He called for the upcoming debate with the new Democratic nominee to be held on Fox News instead of ABC, which he described as biased.
Trump reiterated his criticisms of Biden’s presidency, calling him the “worst” president in US history and accusing him of destroying the country on multiple fronts, including national security and international standing.
Biden’s sudden decision to end his campaign has added uncertainty to the upcoming election, with Harris now stepping into the spotlight as the Democratic candidate. The political landscape remains highly charged as both parties prepare for the next phase of the election cycle.
