Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has responded to comments made by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, threatening to unseat her in the 2027 general elections. The two have been at odds since taking office.
At a recent event in Abuja, Minister Wike said Senator Kingibe would lose the support of FCT residents due to her failure to collaborate with the FCT Administration. He also made a controversial statement, telling her to “hang herself on a transformer” if she was unhappy with his performance.
Senator Kingibe reacted to the comments, saying Minister Wike lacks understanding of FCT leadership and should apologize for his remarks. In an interview, she stated, “He should apologize for saying I should hang on a transformer. Once he does, we can start fresh. I’m older than him, and courtesy demands respect.”
The senator emphasized her willingness to work with Minister Wike if he apologizes, but until then, she maintains her stance. The exchange highlights the ongoing tension between the two officials.
