All Nigerian Community Ghana Holds National Congress

Accra, Ghana – The All Nigerian Community (ANC) Ghana held its National Congress on August 2, 2024, at the Nigeria High Commission Conference Hall. The event was attended by dignitaries, including the Charge D’Affaires of the Nigerian High Commission, Ambassador Dayo Adeoye, traditional leaders, and representatives from various Nigerian organizations.

In his welcome address, ANC National President, Chief Dr. Bayor Albert Asaolu, emphasized the importance of unity among Nigerians in Ghana. “It is essential for an heterogeneous society to live together in harmony with understanding of our divergent cultural background, norms, belief and religion. Upon all these factors we must still live together as a people. ‘ONE NATION ONE PEOPLE’ as our slogan,” he said.

Asaolu highlighted the challenges facing the community, including human trafficking, prostitution, and the high cost of residence and work permits. He called for collective efforts to address these issues and redeem the good image of Nigerians in Ghana. “Fellow Nigerians, we consider it barbaric seeing our underage girls everywhere in Ghana involving in illicit trade called prostitution, likewise our young boys are under lock and key engaging in yahooyahoo activities which is more than slavery,” he lamented.

Asaolu also discussed the review of the ANC constitution, plans for a national unity summit and seminar, and the launch of a compulsory national identity card for Nigerians in Ghana. “We have therefore concluded to embark on a dual purpose compulsory ANC national identity card for all Nigerians that reside in Ghana. The card will perform dual functions which include Health Insurance and also guarantee bearers wherever he or she goes as Nigerian,” he explained.

He expressed his appreciation for the support of the Nigerian High Commission and emphasized the need for synergy between national and regional executives to address the challenges facing the community. “It is our first priority to tour all the Regions as National Executives and various Regional Executives. Some of the Regions, it is our absolute resolution to solve all dichotomies indeed looking for more synergy between National Executives and Regional Executives,” he said.

Asaolu concluded his address by urging all to work together to promote the welfare and interests of the community. “God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria! God bless Republic of Ghana! God bless Africa!” he said.
