The Kaduna State Government has announced a 24-hour curfew for the metropolitan cities of Kaduna and Zaria. This decision, effective immediately, was disclosed by Samuel Aruwan, Overseeing Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, in a statement on Monday.
The imposition of the curfew follows concerns that recent protests have been overtaken by criminal elements engaged in looting and vandalism. According to Aruwan, the Kaduna State Security Council, under Governor Uba Sani, made this move to address the escalating security situation.
Residents are advised to stay indoors during the curfew, while security forces will be active to ensure safety and order. The security situation will be monitored closely, with potential adjustments to the curfew as necessary.
The government’s action aims to restore peace and protect both private and public property from further damage.
