DJ Cuppy Makes History at UN General Assembly

 

New York, September 22, 2024— Florence Otedola, known as DJ Cuppy, has made history by hosting a youth session at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). This event took place during the ‘Summit of the Future Action Days’ on September 21 and 22.

 

In her role, Cuppy emphasized the need for youth involvement in global discussions. “I am honored to represent Nigeria today. It’s all about you, the youth,” she stated. She highlighted her passion for quality education and her foundation’s efforts to support underprivileged African students.

 

Cuppy encouraged participants to engage actively in conversations about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4, which focuses on quality education. “We believe in leadership that brings everyone to the table,” she said.

 

After her keynote address, Cuppy also performed a musical piece, showcasing her diverse talents. Reflecting on her experience, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “I can’t believe I had the chance to open up the Summit of the Future!”

 

Cuppy is recognized as the first Nigerian to host an opening youth session at the UNGA. With a strong academic background, including degrees from King’s College London and the University of Oxford, she has also made significant contributions to philanthropy through her foundation, which has raised millions for educational initiatives.

 

Her achievements at the UN continue to inspire young people and highlight the importance of youth voices in global conversations.
