Tragic Road Accident Claims 13 Lives on Kaduna-Abuja Expressway

A tragic road accident claimed the lives of 13 people on the busy Kaduna-Abuja expressway on Friday. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. near Olam Farm, involving a Toyota Hiace bus and a Golf Salon car.

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kaduna Sector Commander Kabir Nadabo confirmed the crash, stating that the Toyota Hiace, carrying 11 passengers, collided with the Golf Salon, which had five passengers. The victims who lost their lives have been taken to St Gerard’s Hospital, while three survivors were transported to AP Smart Hospital in Kakuri for urgent medical care.

Commander Nadabo emphasized the importance of safe driving and warned motorists about the dangers of speeding, especially during the busy “ember” months at the year’s end, when travel and traffic volumes often increase.

“The FRSC is committed to making the roads safer for all users. We urge drivers to follow speed limits and practice basic safety measures,” he said, adding appreciation for the Kaduna State Government’s support in FRSC’s efforts to enhance road safety.

The FRSC continues to remind motorists to prioritize safety as travel peaks in the coming months, aiming to prevent further tragedies on Nigeria’s highways.
