November 25, 2024- Renowned Nigerian clergyman, Mike Bamiloye, has voiced his disapproval of female ministers who often prioritize their ministry work over their family responsibilities. In a recent Instagram post, Bamiloye expressed concern over women in ministry who travel frequently for their work, leaving their husbands at home.
Bamiloye criticized the trend, where some female ministers accuse their husbands of stifling their visions and callings when they attempt to address the issue of their prolonged absences. He pointed out the irony of these women enjoying luxurious accommodations and fine meals while their husbands are left to manage local churches and deal with loneliness.
The clergyman highlighted what he sees as a hypocrisy, where ministers publicly praise their husbands during sermons, saying, “I bring you greetings from my husband, the owner of my head,” while their spouses remain isolated at home.
He elaborated in his Instagram post: “There is a class of female Ministers who never stayed at home with their husbands. They travel everywhere, being hosted in many hotels and suites all over as they minister, eating the best of sumptuous meals provided by their hosts while their husbands stay alone at home manning the local church.
“They could be away from home for two or three months, ‘preaching’ the gospel all over the world while their husbands languish at home alone, being fed by cousins, nephews, or housemaids. And when the husband attempts to stop them from moving or reduce their frequent ‘mission’ trips, they would say he is killing their visions and suppressing their callings.”
Bamiloye also emphasized the emotional toll on husbands, who are left behind to manage church duties while their wives enjoy the perks of their travels. He added that the public praise offered by these women for their husbands stands in stark contrast to the reality of the neglect their spouses experience at home.
The clergyman’s remarks have sparked conversations about the balance between ministry work and family responsibilities, with many agreeing that maintaining a healthy relationship between spouses should be a priority.
