Lagos, Nigeria – Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu has publicly criticized popular cleric Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, also known as Odumeje or “Indaboski,” over a viral video featuring Yul Edochie and his second wife, Judy Austin, at the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry.
The video, which surfaced online, shows Edochie and Austin attending Prophet Odumeje’s birthday celebration. Maduagwu expressed his disapproval of the couple’s presence on the church’s altar, accusing the prophet of “normalizing adultery” by allowing the pair to partake in such a significant event while Edochie’s divorce proceedings with his first wife, May Edochie, remain unresolved.
In a strongly-worded message, Maduagwu described the situation as a “disgrace to the church,” emphasizing that Judy Austin is not traditionally recognized as Edochie’s wife since, according to him, no bride price was paid. He questioned Odumeje’s actions, asking, “Would you have allowed this if Queen May were your sister?”
The actor further called on the cleric to uphold the sanctity of religious spaces and avoid actions that could be interpreted as endorsing moral impropriety.
Social media users have reacted strongly to Maduagwu’s statements, with many supporting his stance. Comments ranged from criticism of the couple to questions about the church’s practices.
One user commented, “They have defiled the altar,” while another added, “Such a shameful thing. You can’t expect better from Yul after disrespecting his family.”
This is not the first time Prophet Odumeje has sparked controversy. Previously, he made headlines after discussing plans to use spiritual powers to address Nigeria’s challenges in a video featuring music artist Flavour.
As debates around the incident continue to unfold, it highlights growing concerns about the intersection of religion, celebrity culture, and societal values in Nigeria.
