ImoIFF 2024: Discover New Talent and Amazing Stories from Around World

The second edition of the ImoIFF Creatives & Film Festival 2024, themed Emergence’24, concluded on November 30, leaving a lasting impact on filmmakers, creatives, and audiences alike. Held over three days in Owerri from November 28–30, the festival attracted a vibrant mix of local and international talent, showcasing the transformative power of storytelling.

 

The festival offered a variety of engaging activities, including:

– Student Film Showcases: Young filmmakers debuted bold and inspiring stories, captivating audiences with their fresh perspectives.

– Insightful Industry Sessions: Renowned professionals like Chris Odeh and Sophia Clement shared expertise, leaving attendees inspired and informed.

– Panel Discussions & Networking: Key conversations on the future of African cinema fostered collaboration and innovation among participants.

– Cultural Performances & Screenings: A lively red carpet and a diverse array of film screenings brought energy and creativity to the event.

 

A major highlight was the Julob Filmmakers Workshop, a free training initiative designed to empower emerging talents. Successful applicants participated in hands-on sessions covering cinematography, sound, acting, and production, equipping them with essential filmmaking skills.

 

With submissions from over 50 countries, including Nigeria, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, China, and Germany, the festival underscored its global reach and its role as a premier platform for storytelling excellence.

 

Festival convener Izu Okafor expressed deep gratitude to attendees, participants, and sponsors:

“ImoIFF 2024 was a celebration of creativity and resilience. The overwhelming support from filmmakers, facilitators, and our audience reaffirms our mission to empower storytellers and inspire new voices in the industry.”
