Congratulations are in order for Diedre Dawkins, a celebrated West African dancer, healer, and choreographer hailing from New York. As the current Artist in Residence for Ghana, Dawkins has been awarded a full scholarship to present her transformative tour, “Dance Is Healing.”
The tour, hosted by the Teaching Artist Institute (TAI), highlights the therapeutic power of dance and its ability to foster healing and connection. It features performances and workshops at several notable locations across Ghana, including:
– December 11th, 2024: National Theatre Ghana, South Liberia Road (1 PM)
– December 13th, 2024: Achimota Hospital Accra, Aggrey Road (1 PM)
– December 19th, 2024: University of Cape Coast (1 PM)
– December 22nd, 2024: Blue Hills Hotel, Wa, Ghana (1 PM)
This initiative not only underscores Dawkins’ artistic brilliance but also her commitment to using dance as a medium for cultural exchange and healing. As she continues to share her craft with communities in Ghana, her work embodies the spirit of creativity, resilience, and cultural unity.
