Seven Days of Kwanzaa Celebration with the Great Plains Black History Museum

 

As the holiday season approaches,Kinara Park Kids and the Great Plains Black History Museum invites everyone to honor the principles of Kwanzaa with an enriching seven-day celebration from December 26 to January 1. The event, hosted online by Kinara Park Kids®, offers a unique opportunity to embrace the cultural and community-focused values of this African American holiday.

 

Each day of Kwanzaa highlights a core principle, celebrated through family and community gatherings. Participants can join the festivities daily at 7 PM WAT, either as part of their own evening celebrations or to prepare for them.

 

The Seven Principles of Kwanzaa  

– December 26: Umoja (Unity)– Focus on maintaining unity within the family, community, nation, and race.

– December 27: Kujichagulia (Self-Determination)– Embrace the power of defining, naming, and creating for ourselves.

– December 28: Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility) – Commit to working together to solve our community’s challenges.

– December 29: Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) – Support and sustain Black-owned businesses to strengthen economic ties within the community.

– December 30: Nia (Purpose) – Dedicate efforts to building and restoring the community’s greatness.

– December 31: Kuumba (Creativity) – Strive to improve the community, leaving it better than we found it.

– January 1: Imani (Faith) – Strengthen belief in ourselves, our leaders, and the justness of our shared struggle.

Kinara Park Kids® is dedicated to fostering community through positive imagery and year-round application of Kwanzaa’s principles. Their mission aligns with the event’s goals of promoting unity, creativity, and purpose.
