The Congo Youth Coalition Inc.,  nonprofit organization committed to empowering Congolese youth in New York City and beyond, will host its inaugural event, “Ebandeli: A Celebration of Congolese Youth”, on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Pando Park, located at 450 Park Avenue South, New York, NY.

The event, aptly titled “Ebandeli”—Lingala for ” the beginning”—marks a significant milestone for the Congolese community, providing a platform to unite, celebrate cultural heritage, and discuss pathways for empowering the next generation.

The evening will feature a rich cultural program, including a live Congolese Rumba performance by the celebrated artist Nkumu Katalay, panel discussions with community leaders, and cultural showcases celebrating the vibrant art and traditions of the Congo. The event will also commemorate the 50th anniversary of Muhammad Ali’s historic fight in Zaire, with a special auction hosted by GalleryArticle 15 to raise funds for establishing a cultural center focused on Congolese arts, education, and heritage.

Speaking on the mission of the event, Bob Musungu Yenge, President of Congo Youth Coalition Inc., said: “Our event is not just a celebration; it is a platform for meaningful dialogue about the future of Congolese youth and the significance of cultural pride. Fostering educational, entrepreneurial, and cultural initiatives is critical for the advancement of our youth.”

The celebration will also welcome notable figures, including members of the NYC African Council and city commissioners, underscoring the importance of collaboration and cultural exchange.
