The Apex Socio-Cultural Youth Organization of the Igbo race worldwide, Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), extends its commendation to the Ime-Obi for electing a distinguished technocrat and erudite comrade, Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu, as the new President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu is widely respected as a man of nobility, honor, and unwavering integrity. His steadfast dedication to the political and economic advancement of the Igbo people remains unparalleled, marking him as a beacon of leadership at a critical time for the Igbo race.
It is a matter of historical significance that, on December 14, 2024, over 50 million Igbo people celebrated the election of Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu to complete the rotational tenure of Ndi Imo in the presidency of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. Notably, Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu has now made history as the first comrade from the long-standing struggle for Igbo emancipation to serve as the President-General of this revered socio-cultural organization.
The Ohanaeze Youth Council expresses confidence that under Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu’s visionary leadership, Ohanaeze Ndigbo will witness a renewed socio-cultural resurgence. His tenure is expected to transform the organization, reaffirm its foundational values, and propel it toward reclaiming its rightful role as the guardian of Igbo heritage since its establishment in 1976.
We urge Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu to prioritize the mending of the decades-long divide between Igbo elders and the youth—an issue that has fueled restiveness and agitation across Alaigbo. For decades, a significant chasm has existed between the youth, political stakeholders, and Igbo elders. However, we are optimistic that under his stewardship, Ohanaeze Ndigbo will restore trust and confidence, fostering unity that will safeguard Igbo land from the challenges and devastation that have persisted since 2015.
Furthermore, we call on Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu to champion an urgent constitutional amendment, comprehensive social transformation, and structural expansion of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. The organization must embrace all indigenous Igbos across the thirteen states, extending its reach beyond the Southeast to include the South-South and parts of the North Central, specifically Kogi and Benue States.
The leadership of Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu offers a unique opportunity to reposition Ohanaeze Ndigbo as a unifying force for all Igbo people globally, ensuring collective growth, empowerment, and socio-cultural development.
