Kano, December 19, 2024 – The Kano State Police Command has apprehended two suspects linked to the theft of tricycles and successfully returned the stolen vehicles to their rightful owners.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, disclosed that the suspects were arrested during an intelligence-driven raid on December 9, 2024, at criminal hideouts in the Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State.
“During the operation, two suspects, Ado Yusuf, 40, and Rabi’u Suleiman, 35, were arrested, and two stolen tricycles were recovered from them,” Haruna confirmed.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were unable to provide satisfactory accounts of the recovered tricycles. One of the vehicles, with registration number KGM 246VC, was identified by its owner during a police press conference held on December 10, 2024. The victim, Mamman Musa, reported being drugged by the suspects before his tricycle was stolen.
Musa was promptly treated at Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital and later transferred to the Kano Reformatory Institute in Kiru. He has since been discharged.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Garba, has ordered a thorough investigation into the case. “The Command urges victims of similar crimes, especially those who have had tricycles snatched under similar circumstances, to report to the Public Relations Officer at the Command’s Headquarters, Bompai,” the statement read.
The arrested suspects are expected to face court proceedings after the investigation concludes.
