Anthony Joshua: Music and Sports wont make you a Billionaire

Nigerian-born British boxer and two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has shared his perspective on the financial realities of the sports and entertainment industries. Speaking through his Snapchat account, Joshua advised aspiring professionals to focus on financial sustainability and business growth, rather than relying solely on fame or talent.

“For anyone to reach billionaire status, it will not be through sports, music, or entertainment. Don’t get lost in the hype. Focus on sustainability, books, and business ethics,” Joshua stated.

Anthony Joshua, who has a net worth of $83 million (£64 million) as of 2024, according to Forbes, emphasized the importance of financial literacy and strategic planning. While sports and entertainment offer significant earning potential, he argued that long-term wealth often comes from business ventures and investments outside the limelight.

Globally, only a handful of athletes and entertainers have achieved billionaire status, primarily through strategic investments and diversified income streams. Icons like Jay-Z, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James owe much of their wealth to endorsements, product lines, and business enterprises, rather than their primary careers.

Joshua’s message highlights the need for professionals in sports and entertainment to prioritize financial management and explore opportunities beyond their industries.

The boxer’s advice serves as a timely reminder for rising stars to avoid being swept away by the allure of fame. Instead, Joshua urges them to educate themselves on business principles and make informed financial decisions for sustainable growth.
