Donald Trump arrived in Washington on Saturday as he prepared to reclaim the presidency. The billionaire Republican, accompanied by his wife Melania and family members, landed at Dulles International Airport before heading to a private celebration, including a fireworks display, at his golf club in Virginia.
Speaking to NBC News earlier in the day, Trump outlined plans for his first days in office, promising to sign a record number of executive orders starting immediately after his inauguration on Monday. While he declined to specify the exact number, he assured that it would be “record-setting.”
The president-elect is expected to focus on reversing key policies from the outgoing administration of President Joe Biden, including measures on immigration and national security.
Trump also revealed plans to launch a mass deportation program targeting undocumented migrants. When asked about specific cities, he stated, “Things are evolving. I don’t think we want to say what city. You’ll see it firsthand.”
Tom Homan, Trump’s pick for “border czar,” confirmed to *The Washington Post* that the administration was reviewing its plans following media leaks. Reports had suggested Chicago might face a major raid on Tuesday, but Homan clarified that no final decision had been made.
“We’ll be arresting people across the country, uninhibited by any prior administration guidelines,” Homan said, adding that the focus will be on individuals deemed “public safety threats.”
### **Inauguration Plans Altered**
Due to an unusually cold weather forecast, Trump announced that his inauguration ceremony would be moved indoors. “I think we made the right decision,” he told NBC, citing concerns over safety. Recent inaugurations have traditionally been held on the steps of the U.S. Capitol overlooking the National Mall.
Trump’s schedule includes a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on Sunday, followed by a rally in Washington and a dinner event. Meanwhile, protests against his policies continued to gain momentum, with thousands of demonstrators taking to the streets on Saturday.
While Trump celebrated his return to power, opposition groups voiced strong disapproval of his policy plans. Demonstrators marched across Washington, criticizing his hardline stance on immigration and his promise to undo significant policies of the Biden administration.
Trump supporters, however, have rallied behind his agenda, expressing optimism about his second term.
As Trump prepares to officially take office, the nation braces for a dynamic and contentious political shift.
