The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended its congratulations to Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States of America.
The congratulatory message was delivered in a statement issued on Tuesday by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa. The statement emphasized the long-standing and robust relationship between Nigeria and the United States, underscoring cooperation in areas such as governance, sustainable development, and combating terrorism and violent extremism.
It further expressed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations during President Trump’s tenure, with a shared vision to advance the welfare of their citizens and address global challenges together.
The statement read:
“The Federal Republic of Nigeria congratulates President Donald Trump following his successful inauguration as the 47th President of the United States of America.
“Nigeria and the United States of America have enjoyed cooperation in diverse areas of mutual interest, especially in the promotion of good governance, sustainable development, and the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
“Nigeria therefore looks forward to further strengthening our historic, strong, and vibrant strategic partnership for the benefit of all our people.”
Trump took the oath of office on Monday in a ceremony held inside the Capitol Rotunda, following adverse weather conditions. The oath was administered by Chief Justice John Roberts, with Trump vowing to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
The inauguration marks a historic moment in U.S. politics, drawing attention worldwide.
