In a bold move to curb criminal activities, Anambra State’s security outfit, “Operation Udo Ga-Achi”, also known as “Agunechemba”, has demolished the Udoka Golden Point Hotel and Suites, popularly called “La Cruise Hotel,” located along Onitsha-Owerri Road.
The hotel was identified as a hub for kidnappers and other criminal elements. According to the security team, the premises contained over 30 partitioned graves on the top floor, a shrine, live ammunition, and other incriminating materials.
A video shared by the security outfit revealed the shocking discoveries, including a ritual pot filled with blood and feathers, which were retrieved and handed over to police authorities at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office in Awkuzu. The shrine reportedly served as a center for spiritual activities connected to the crimes.
Speaking on the incident, Christian Aburime, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, confirmed the operation and demolition. “The hotel was destroyed because investigations linked it to a kidnappers’ den,” Aburime stated. He further disclosed that items recovered included army uniforms, live cartridges, and other materials, which are now in poli
Residents of the community expressed relief and joy over the demolition, citing nightly gunshots and increasing criminal activities around the hotel. Many had been too afraid to report the activities for fear of retaliation.
The demolition is part of the state’s ongoing efforts under the *Homeland Security Law 2025* to tackle insecurity. Governor Soludo’s administration has vowed to dismantle criminal hideouts and prosecute property owners involved in such activities.
Aburime noted, “We are making significant progress in ridding Anambra State of criminals. More buildings linked to kidnapping, robbery, or other violent crimes will be demolished, and their owners prosecuted.”
Community members and stakeholders have applauded the state government for its decisive action, describing it as a step toward restoring peace and safety. The Agunechemba security outfit, launched recently, has already recorded several victories against criminal syndicates, including the discovery of another hideout in Isiagu, Awka South Local Government Area.
The government has urged citizens to report suspicious activities, assuring them of protection under the new security measures.
The demolition sends a clear message to criminal elements operating in Anambra State: there will be no hiding place for crime and corruption.
