The 79th Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) descended into chaos on Wednesday as a violent clash broke out between supporters of the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and his rival, Hon. Sunday Ude-Okoye.
According to reports, the altercation erupted at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja when Anyanwu’s loyalists demanded that Ude-Okoye leave the meeting, arguing that he was not a BoT member. Tensions escalated when one of Anyanwu’s aides, Emmanuel Okoronkwo, allegedly attacked Ude-Okoye and forcibly removed him from the hall.
In response, Ude-Okoye called on his supporters waiting outside. Some of them scaled the secretariat fence in an attempt to forcefully bring him back into the meeting. However, armed security operatives on the premises quickly intervened and blocked their entry.
The situation was eventually brought under control, allowing the BoT meeting to resume.
This incident highlights ongoing tensions within the PDP as internal rivalries continue to spark confrontations.
