Hon. Sir Tochukwu Chinedu Okere, a distinguished member of Nigeria’s 10th National Assembly, representing the Owerri Municipal/Owerri North/Owerri West Constituency marks 20th Anniversary of his marriage, celebrating his wife.
As Chairman of the House Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Okere has been instrumental in strengthening ties with the Nigerian diaspora. In June 2024 he presented an outstanding lecture on challenges of Trade between ECOWAS States at the 15th Anniversary of Nigerian Eye Newspaper in Ghana, and led an oversight visit to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) in Abuja in November 2024, commending the Commission’s achievements over its first five years. He emphasized the importance of engaging Nigerians abroad in national development and expressed the Committee’s commitment to supporting NiDCOM’s initiatives.
Hon. Okere’s legislative efforts include sponsoring 16 bills, five motions, and four petitions aimed at improving infrastructure and social services within his constituency. Notably, he has advocated for the rehabilitation of critical roads to boost agricultural activities and enhance connectivity in the Owerri Federal Constituency.
Beyond legislative duties, Hon. Okere has initiated several community development projects. In partnership with the Centre for Social Awareness, Advocacy, and Ethics (CSAAE), he sponsored the Digital Skilling and Employment Project (DSEP), providing free digital skills training and laptops to youths in his constituency. This initiative aims to equip young people with essential skills for the digital economy, fostering self-sufficiency and economic empowerment.
Additionally, Hon. Okere has facilitated the construction and renovation of educational facilities, including eight schools, and provided solar lighting and transformers to enhance infrastructure in the Owerri Federal Constituency. These efforts reflect his commitment to improving the quality of education and living standards for his constituents.
