Tinubu Departs for France Ahead of AU Summit in Ethiopia

 

Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will leave Abuja on Wednesday for a private visit to Paris, France, before proceeding to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the upcoming African Union (AU) Summit.

This was revealed in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

In Addis Ababa, President Tinubu will join other African leaders at the 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council and the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of AU Heads of State, scheduled to take place from February 12 to 16, 2025.

The president is expected to arrive in Ethiopia early next week for the summit, where critical discussions on Africa’s economic development, security, and regional cooperation will take place.

Before heading to Ethiopia, President Tinubu will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris. The details of their discussions remain undisclosed, but they are expected to focus on bilateral relations, economic partnerships, and other key diplomatic issues.

The AU Summit in Addis Ababa will bring together heads of state from across the continent to deliberate on Africa’s challenges and progress. Tinubu’s participation highlights Nigeria’s continued role in shaping the future of the African Union.
