Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has officially received 22 high-profile defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) into the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a zonal rally in Kafanchan, Southern Kaduna.
The new APC members include serving and former federal legislators, lawmakers from the Kaduna State House of Assembly, former council chairmen, state party chairmen, and opposition party flagbearers.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sani stated that the APC is gaining ground in Southern Kaduna, a region previously dominated by the PDP, due to his administration’s commitment to justice and inclusivity.
“APC is taking over Southern Kaduna because we are just. We are abiding by the oath of our office by being just to every segment of Kaduna, irrespective of party affiliation or ethno-religious background,” the governor said.
He emphasized that after elections, governance should take precedence over politics, describing this as a key principle of leadership. He further noted that peaceful coexistence is essential for development, stressing that without peace, progress would be unattainable.
Governor Sani also mentioned that President Bola Tinubu is pleased with the ongoing political developments in Kaduna State, as he envisions the state as a model for unity and peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.
