The Anambra State Government has filed a six-count charge against popular native doctor Chidozie Nwangwu, also known as Akwa Okuku Tiwara Aki, and 28 others, including controversial spiritual figures Eke Hit and Onyeze Jesus. If found guilty, they could face up to 20 years in prison.
Nwangwu, a well-known traditional healer, was recently arrested for allegedly violating the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025. According to sources, the charges against him include alleged involvement in money ritual practices, suspected links to drug dealers, preparation of charms for kidnappers, and preparation of charms for armed robbers. The Anambra State Government has also threatened to confiscate and demolish his properties, including hotels, if he is convicted.
The arrest is part of Operation Udo Ga Achi, an ongoing security initiative that has led to the detention of about 30 native doctors suspected of criminal activities. Among those in custody are Onyeze Jesus, a self-proclaimed pastor and native doctor known for ritual bathing practices in rivers, promising financial success to young men and women, and Eke Hit, a native doctor from Okija who boasts that his charms take effect within four days. Authorities believe these individuals are involved in illegal and dangerous practices that threaten public safety.
The Anambra State Executive Council has assured the public that investigations are ongoing. Those found guilty will face the full force of the law. As the legal proceedings unfold, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating crime and ensuring that traditional practices do not endanger the security and well-being of residents.
