Senate President Godswill Akpabio has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his significant efforts in ensuring his emergence as the President of the 10th National Assembly.
Speaking during a Special Iftar in Abuja to celebrate Tinubu’s 73rd birthday, Akpabio described the president as a bold and visionary leader whose legacy will inspire generations to come.
“Mr. President, by the time you finish your tenure, history will remember you as Nigeria’s greatest and most audacious leader,” Akpabio said. “Your passion for Nigeria’s progress is both remarkable and contagious.”
Akpabio also highlighted Tinubu’s contributions to Nigeria’s political development, particularly his pivotal role in forming the All Progressives Congress (APC) and supporting former President Muhammadu Buhari’s rise to power in 2015.
He expressed disappointment over how Tinubu was treated by the APC leadership at the time, noting that while he was referred to as the party’s leader, he was excluded from the party’s National Executive Council (NEC).
“They called you leader of the party but didn’t include you in NEC, which makes key decisions. Despite this, you stayed committed and helped lead the party to victory,” Akpabio stated.
He also commended President Tinubu’s current leadership, praising his efforts toward economic reforms and democratic values that are gradually transforming the nation.
“As you continue to lead, your commitment to Nigeria’s prosperity and unity is clear, and we are on the right track with you at the helm,” Akpabio concluded.
The Iftar event was part of a series of celebrations to mark Tinubu’s 73rd birthday.
