At least 13 Palestinians, including journalist Islam Maqdad, were killed in ongoing Israeli air and artillery strikes across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to Arab media sources.
Intense bombardments targeted multiple areas:
– In Khan Younis, Israeli forces hit a residential building and a makeshift tent housing displaced families.
– Ezbet Abd Rabbo in northern Jabalia witnessed shelling in densely populated zones.
– Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, came under airstrike targeting civilian areas.
– Another attack struck the Khan Younis refugee camp.
– Abasan al-Kabira, to the east, was shelled by artillery fire.
– A drone strike reportedly targeted farmland in southern Gaza.
– An air raid in Al-Tawam, north of Gaza City, hit a residential home.
A heartbreaking image circulated online showed a grieving Palestinian mother bidding farewell to her son, Saeed Abu Amer, who was killed in the strikes east of Khan Younis.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens
The United Nations warns that Israeli attacks since the collapse of the January ceasefire are killing or injuring around 100 Palestinian children daily.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, total casualties now stand at:
– At least 50,669 deaths
– Over 115,225 injuries
The Government Media Office estimates the actual death toll has surpassed 61,700, with thousands still buried under rubble.
This wave of violence adds to a growing list of deadly assaults in Gaza, even as diplomatic efforts to reinstate a ceasefire have repeatedly stalled.
