Obidient Movement Launches ID Cards and Registration Portal

The Obidient Movement has officially launched an online registration portal and identity cards for its members in Nigeria and across the diaspora.

In a statement released on Saturday by the National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, and the Director of Strategic Communications and Media, Nana Kazaure, the movement emphasized the initiative’s goal of strengthening member identity and enhancing unity among supporters.

According to the statement, each identity card will display the flag of the holder’s country of residence. It will also include a QR code at the bottom right-hand corner, allowing instant verification of authenticity using any smartphone or QR scanner.

“The Obidient registration portal supports Nigerians and fellow Obidients living abroad,” the statement said. “The flag feature showcases our diversity, unity, and wide reach globally.”

Each identity card will feature the OBX prefix followed by four characters that represent the holder’s Nigerian state and local government area if residing in Nigeria. For diaspora members, a three-letter country code, such as GBR for the United Kingdom, will be used.

Importantly, the additional numbers on the ID cards are randomized to protect the security of members. The QR code system also provides a safer way for Obidients to verify identities before engaging in personal or business relationships.

The registration process requires applicants to complete a verification step, including submitting their social media handles like their X (formerly Twitter) account, to ease confirmation.

The Obidient Movement reminded members to carry out independent checks when entering into business or personal agreements, highlighting the importance of due diligence to avoid falling victim to fraudulent activities.

The group reiterated its commitment to better governance and its mantra: “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
