India has launched Operation Sindoor, a precision military strike targeting nine terrorist infrastructure sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), in direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 individuals, including 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen.
According to the Ministry of Defence (MoD), the operation was measured, focused, and non-escalatory, deliberately avoiding Pakistani military installations. Among the key sites hit were Jaish-e-Mohammed’s base in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s hub in Muridke—both globally designated terrorist organizations.
The operation utilized intelligence-driven precision strikes coordinated by India’s Army, Navy, and Air Force. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other top officials have praised the operation, with Singh stating: “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” in recognition of the armed forces’ swift response.
In response, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the strikes, calling them an “act of war” and vowed retaliation. Hours later, Pakistan reportedly violated the ceasefire by firing artillery in the Bhimber Gali area of Jammu and Kashmir, injuring several civilians.
India has briefed key allies including the US, UK, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Russia about the operation. In an early reaction, former US President Donald Trump called the escalation “a shame”, referencing the long history of India-Pakistan tensions.
A detailed MoD briefing is expected later today to provide further intelligence context and outcomes from the operation.
