In a significant development, ANC regional leaders have come together to deliberate on the future of the All Nigerian Community Ghana (ANC-Ghana), with a focus on fostering unity, transparency, and regional cooperation among Nigerians living in the country.
The crucial meeting took place at the office of the ANC President Dr.Bayor Albert Asaolu, which is also serving as a proxy secretariat of the ANC ,the meeting held with the presence of key community representatives including Mazi Emeka Alozie from the Igbo Community, Hon. Bruno, Chief David Ukwuegbu representing South South, Hon. Olabisi from the Yoruba Community, Madam Ophelia from the South South, and Hon. High Chief Bayo Asaolu, the National President of ANC. Also in attendance was Chief Akintola.
These leaders, representing various geopolitical zones, emphasized the need for inclusive leadership and harmony among the major Nigerian ethnic groups in Ghana—Arewa (North), Igbo (East), Yoruba (West), and South South.
Dr. Bayor Albert Asaolu, the ANC-Ghana National President, shed light on the vision of ANC. “This community was created to represent and support all Nigerians in Ghana, promoting unity irrespective of our tribal differences,” he stated.
According to him, the rotation of ANC leadership among the geopolitical zones was established at the Nigerian High Commission to address earlier tensions during leadership transitions. Today, that structure ensures equity and representation, enhancing community trust and stability.
Community Solidarity and Challenges
The ANC-Ghana meeting was not just about structure—it was about creating a sense of belonging. The leaders expressed shared goals of enhancing integration, defending Nigerians’ interests in Ghana, and representing their needs before relevant authorities.
Madam Ophelia, representing the South South region, praised the effort, saying, “This is not just about titles; it is about service. We need to build bridges across communities.”
One of the significant takeaways was the readiness of the various community groups to support ANC’s ongoing initiatives. However, there were also calls for the ANC to ensure inclusivity by carrying the other regions along in decision making and projects and resist the temptation of leadership elongation.
NIDO Endorse the ANC Welfare Card
In a strategic move of engaging the broader Nigerian Community, ANC Ghana executives followed up the regional leadership meeting by interfacing with the executives of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO). Discussions focused mainly on joint support for ANC’s initiatives and specifically, the proposed ANC Welfare Identity Card.
NIDO pledged to partner with ANC-Ghana to further unify and empower the Nigerian population in Ghana and embraced the welfare card initiative of ANC-Ghana as an idea that its time has come.
As the ANC prepares for a wider community Summit and Town Hall meeting, its leadership promised that every voice will count and are extending invitation to the organisational arms of the ANC to the dialogue.
“This is a movement for every Nigerian in Ghana. We must continue working together, without division,” said Chief Asaolu.
