Popular social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman (VDM), has reignited controversy online after reacting to a viral church video of Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries, Port Harcourt.
In the video shared by VDM on Instagram, Pastor Ibiyeomie claimed divine authority during a church service, asking a male congregant to “sleep and not wake up.” The man remained unconscious until the pastor commanded him to rise again—what Ibiyeomie described as a demonstration of God’s power.
However, VDM called the act questionable, doubting the miracle’s authenticity and the pastor’s legitimacy as a man of God.
“If you truly have such power,” VDM challenged, “why not use it to stop terrorism or neutralize bandits in Boko Haram territories?”
Quoting 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10, he labeled Ibiyeomie as a possible “lawless man,” warning his audience not to be misled by what he deemed manipulative displays in the name of God.
Despite acknowledging that Ibiyeomie allegedly warned bloggers not to discuss him, VDM vowed to keep revisiting the preacher’s videos and exposing what he sees as manipulative religious theatrics.
The social media critic, known for calling out celebrities and public figures, stressed he would not launch personal attacks, but instead continue questioning religious leaders’ actions and intentions.
This isn’t VDM’s first controversy involving religious figures. In a previous outburst, he criticized Pastor Adeboye over a prophetic statement made earlier this year.

“Why does someone’s demonstration of faith disturb you, VDM?”
@rosemaryequire wrote:
“I like you, but stay away from men of God.”
@ogbologbo\_1 added:
“I grew up seeing real miracles—not these social media shows.”
Meanwhile, others warned VDM not to mock spiritual matters, cautioning that such criticisms could attract divine consequences.
