Tragedy struck early Thursday morning in Ibadan, Oyo State, as a building collapse claimed at least ten lives and left seven others injured. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the Jegede Oluloyo area of Ona Ara Local Government Area, causing devastation in the local community.
According to the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, emergency responders arrived promptly following a distress call. “The Oyo State Fire Services Agency received a call around 2 a.m. from the Jegede Oluloyo area about a building collapse. So far, 10 people have been recovered from the debris, and seven have been rescued alive,” the agency’s statement confirmed. As of the latest update, rescue operations are still underway.
The injured victims have been taken to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. Authorities have not yet released details on the cause of the collapse but have assured the public of a thorough investigation.
