Breaking Historic conversation on reparatory justice and self-representation underway

On Sunday, June 9, Pan African Roots Synergy will host a virtual online conversation on reparatory justice and self-representation in the Pan African community, with a focus on the case of the Dutch. The event, which will take place from 8-11am PDT, aims to share and discuss strategies for coordinating the common struggle and achieving the common objective of speaking with a single voice.

The conversation will feature Dr. Kimani Nehusi, Associate Professor at Temple University in Philadelphia, USA, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Nehusi will discuss the importance of self-representation and how Afrikans can reclaim their right to speak for themselves, rather than relying on others to speak on their behalf.

The event is part of a larger movement to recognize and address the historical injustices faced by Afrikans, including enslavement and the trade in enslaved Afrikans. Some European nations, corporate institutions, churches, banks, and families have apologized for their role in these injustices, and conversations about reparation and restitution are ongoing.

The online conversation is organized by NARECO-NL and is open to all who are interested in joining the discussion on reparatory justice and self-representation. Registration is required to participate in the event.
