On Saturday, June 29th, 2024, the Congolese community in New York City will come together to celebrate their cultural heritage with a flag-raising ceremony at Bowling Green Park. The event, “To Tié LIBAYA,” is organized by Nkumu Katalay LLC and the NYC African Council, with the support of the Mayor’s Office for International Affairs and the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs.
Mayor Eric Adams will grace the occasion, honoring the rich cultural heritage of the Democratic Republic of Congo and promoting unity within the Congolese community. The event will feature music, dance, and community spirit, celebrating the diversity that makes New York City unique.
Nkumu Katalay LLC, a cultural organization dedicated to promoting Congolese heritage, and the NYC African Council, a nonprofit organization empowering the African diaspora, have partnered to bring this momentous occasion to life. Gallery Article 15, a prominent art gallery showcasing Congolese art, is sponsoring the event.
